Orthopedic Surgeon

Hi, I am Dr Sajid. you will be learning under my guidance. Let me tell you why I am obsessed with diabetes prevention.

A Journey That Began in the Operating Theatre

Every doctor's career is shaped by a few unforgettable patients.

For me, one such patient changed the way I looked at diabetes forever.

As an Orthopaedic Surgeon, I was asked to manage a patient with an advanced diabetic limb. Years of diabetes had already caused extensive damage. The blood supply to the foot was severely compromised, nerve function had been lost, and infection had progressed to a stage where limb salvage was no longer possible.

The only realistic option was amputation at the ankle level..

Even then, I knew there was a significant possibility that the remaining stump might not heal because the circulation was so poor. If that happened, a second, higher-level amputation would eventually become necessary.

Like every patient facing amputation, he wanted to save as much of his limb as possible.

He looked at me and asked,

"Doctor, is there any other option?"

Unfortunately, there wasn't.

As we continued our conversation, he quietly told me that he had lived with diabetes for many years, had taken his medications regularly, and had tried to follow the medical advice given to him.

At that moment I realised something that has stayed with me throughout my professional life.

I was standing at the very end of the healthcare journey.

As a surgeon, I could manage the consequences of disease. I am the parson at the last point of care, stating there, helpless.

But I could not change the years of silent biological progression that had already taken place. That experience forced me to ask a question that would eventually change the direction of my career.

Could this patient's journey have been recognised much earlier?

Looking Upstream

That question led me beyond surgery.

I have been interested in lifestyle medicine, functional medicine, obesity medicine and metabolic health, searching for ways to identify disease before irreversible complications developed. I have established lifestyle medicine clinic separately as sideline along with my orthopedic practice.

As my understanding deepened, another observation became increasingly clear.

Modern diabetology has become exceptionally effective at diagnosing and managing established diabetes.

Yet the biological processes leading to diabetes often begin many years before conventional diagnostic criteria are met.

Insulin resistance.

Compensatory physiological changes.

Progressive metabolic dysfunction.

These processes had already been described in scientific literature.

Researchers around the world had contributed important pieces of knowledge.

What appeared to be missing was a practical educational framework that brought these concepts together into a structured system that doctors could understand and apply in routine clinical practice.

That realization became the beginning of Predictive Diabetology.

From Clinical Practice to Medical Education

Alongside clinical practice, I have had the privilege of training doctors and healthcare professionals in advanced health and wellness programs, lifestyle medicine and functional medicine.

Teaching physicians has reinforced an important lesson.

Doctors are eager to learn.

What they need is not simply more information.

They need practical clinical frameworks that can be integrated into everyday practice.

This philosophy became the development  of CPPD.

Every educational program developed at CPPD is designed around one simple objective.

To transform scientific knowledge into practical clinical thinking.

The goal is not memorisation.

The goal is confidence.

Confidence to recognise earlier metabolic change.

Confidence to assess future diabetes risk.

Confidence to guide patients with a broader understanding of metabolic health.

The Center for Predictive & Preventive Diabetology (CPPD) was established with a clear mission.

To advance education, mentorship and clinical excellence in the emerging disciplines of Predictive and Preventive Diabetology.

Traditional Diabetology remains indispensable.

Rather, our goal is to expand it.

We believe that future physicians will increasingly need to understand not only how to diagnose diabetes, but also how to recognise the biological progression that precedes it and how to guide patients toward preserving long-term metabolic health.

CPPD has been created to support doctors on that journey.

Our Educational Philosophy

Medical education should do more than transfer knowledge.

It should transform clinical thinking.

Every mentorship at CPPD follows four guiding principles.

Experience. - Every doctor begins by understanding his or her own metabolic health.

Understand.

Scientific concepts are taught through structured clinical frameworks rather than isolated facts.

Apply.

Learning is reinforced through guided clinical assignments and supervised patient discussions.

Grow.

The objective is to help doctors build a future-ready clinical practice grounded in prediction, prevention and long-term metabolic health.

An Invitation to Fellow Physicians

Medicine has always evolved because doctors have been willing to ask better questions.

Predictive Diabetology began with one question that emerged from a patient I could no longer help through prevention.

Can we recognise the journey toward diabetes before patients reach the stage of irreversible complications?

That question continues to guide everything we do at CPPD.

If you share the belief that the future of diabetes care lies not only in treating disease but also in recognising its earliest biological progression, I invite you to explore our training mentorship programs.

Together, let us help shape the next chapter in diabetology.
